30 Morning Affirmations You Should Say When You Wake Up

May 18, 2020

I am not a morning person, but that does not mean I cannot create some good morning habits and routines to help me kick start my day. Stating morning affirmations is certainly a good habit to develop.

Declaring positive affirmations in the mornings is one of the habits I am proud of to say that I have been mastering over the last couple of months. I am not 100% consistent yet, but I am getting there.

I have been using 'I AM' morning affirmations since I started, I believe around 1 year ago, and I can definitely see the difference in my beliefs and certain actions I take that correspond to those internal beliefs.

Before we give you some examples of morning affirmations, I thought it would be a good idea to give you a definition of what affirmations are, just in case you have not declared or affirmed them before.

Affirmations are positive thoughts that you declare out loud over and to yourself, they are usually pronounced in first person, 'I am - fill in the blank'.

You can come up with them on your own or search for existing ones anywhere. A good definition of what affirmations are, can also be found here.

The important factor to keep in mind when creating your affirmations is to declare them over your pain points, or create affirmations related to whatever you are struggling with, in the moment.

I.e. if you lack self-worth right now, you may come up with affirmations such as I am worth it, I am valuable, I am enough and so on.

Having a consistent morning routine will not just help you organise your daily tasks and to-do things, but it can also define how the rest of your day will play out.

Most successful entrepreneurs, millionaires and high achievers I know or have followed over the years have a morning routine, and many of these have morning affirmations included in them.

This for example, is Tom Bilyeu's morning routine. Now if you just want to improve the quality of your life or thoughts, then having morning affirmations as something you do when you wake up, will certainly help you do that.

Now that we got the definition out of the way, here are some positive morning affirmations you can start saying to yourself to change, literally, your life and the stories you believe about yourself.

  1. 1
    I am a masterpiece.
  2. 2
I am deserving of all the good life can give me.
  3. 3
I know enough and I am enough.
  4. 4
    I am loving and lovable.
  5. 5
I will no longer settle for less than anything I know I am capable of achieving.

The secret with positive morning affirmations is consistency, you can think of it as going to the gym and working out, building muscle requires a daily routine of eating well and working out.

By the same token, to build the muscle of the mind, it also requires repetition and discipline, so you will start noticing a difference if you are consistent with it for a long period of time.

If you do not have the time or simply prefer not to come up the affirmations yourself, you can use Mindzoom.

This software will convey hundreds of affirmations to your subconscious in no time, and change it using the method of repetition.

Your brain will absorb that, the advantage is that you will be able to use while doing other things, instead of having to spare some time just for doing affirmations.

Better than hypnosis

One thing I believe it is important to note is that your subconscious will believe anything that comes out of your mouth, good or bad.

When you declare things to yourself, your brain cannot tell the difference between what is a lie or truth, as it is beautifully put in this video by the world-renowned speaker Marisa Peer.

Left to my own devices, I confess I am a lazy person and as I said in the beginning I am not a morning person at all.

I also used judge myself pretty badly growing up and not until too long ago that this started to change. I no longer live for the weekends, but Monday still is not my favourite day.

Mondays can be tough, especially if sometimes you just cannot switch off during the weekend and those 2 days before Monday seem more like 2 hours.

Monday is the first day of the week for me and because of that I insist in starting it well. A dear friend of mine constantly says 'Start as you mean to go on', and I decided that take to heart.

Below are some examples of Monday morning affirmations I say to myself every Monday morning. You do not have to use precisely these, but you can of course as a starting point.

It might be a good idea to think about areas of your life you want to change, and create affirmations related to that.

  1. 1
I am grateful for another day.
  2. 2
This day will be the best day I have ever had.
  3. 3
All things will work well today and for my good.
  4. 4
I am creative, innovative, driven focused and nothing will stop me today.
  5. 5
I wake up with purpose, meaning and direction every day of my life.

Gratitude Affirmations

I heard Tony Robbins once say that 'where there is gratitude, there cannot be worry'. I could not agree more with that affirmation.

Practising gratitude through morning gratitude affirmations is one of the best things you can do to yourself.

Maybe you are going through some tough times, especially now with all that is happening, people losing their jobs, etc, being grateful might be the last thing on your mind.

Instead of being bombarded by external messages from the media, TV, radio, etc. Be bombarded by positive affirmations, check out Mindzoom.

I cannot encourage you enough to search for at least 3 things that you can be grateful for every morning, you do not have to overwhelm yourself by having different things every day, they can be same.

If you cannot find 3 things to be grateful for, I urge you to look for them, look within and around you and you will find them. A grateful heart replaces a worrisome one.

Here are some gratitude morning affirmations you can practice every morning:

  1. 1
I am grateful to be alive today
  2. 2
I am grateful for my healthy body and mind that support me
  3. 3
I am grateful for all the good relationships I have
  4. 4
I am grateful that I am in the process of becoming the best version of myself
  5. 5
I am grateful that the universe has my back and is working in my favour

Morning Affirmations For Anxiety

About 7 years ago, my dad was taken to hospital due to a heart attack. I stayed with him day and night switching with my brother, those were darker days.

I could not have imagined that this event would have opened up a can of worms within me and in my life in general. I started getting anxious and having panic attacks.

Due to anxiety, I could no longer attend big gatherings, I could not see people that did not know me well because I would have to pretend all was well, and I could not do a few other things too.

Maybe you can relate in some shape or form, if that is the case, I am happy that you are reading this now and I urge you to start talking to your subconscious through morning affirmations for anxiety.

You may start with the following:

  1. 1
I no longer will be a slave to fear.
  2. 2
Anxiety serves to tell me what needs to be seen within me.
  3. 3
I am loved and accepted the way I am
  4. 4
Depression and anxiety do not define me.
  5. 5
I can overcome anything I set my mind to

If you take anything from this article, my hope is that you understand the power of affirmations over your life.

Or better yet, the power of your tongue over your life.

Try to implement affirming beliefs and thoughts into your routine.

You will see the inner change in a couple of months. 🙂

And remember, consistency is key.
